Transferring - what you need to know.

Transferring an existing domain or website to a new hosting company is "possible" but usually not "advisable." We have helped hundreds of customers do this over the last five years, so we know almost every problem that can arise from transferring existing domains, hosting and email. Please read the following Additional Terms of Service if you choose to transfer an existing domain to us rather than purchasing a new domain.

Additional Terms of Service (applicable to transfers only)

1. My Local hosting, Inc. cannot guarantee the successful transfer of an existing domain, email, or website to our hosting plan. We will still charge the initial setup fee "up front."

2. If you transfer hosting for an existing domain to My Local Hosting, Inc., whether by a nameserver change, an 'A' record change, domain transfer or any other DNS change, you understand and agree to the following:
a.  Any email address that is associated with the domain will stop working until all new DNS records are properly set on My Local Hosting Inc.'s servers, and (if applicable) your local POP and SMTP settings are updated.
b.  You agree to be totally responsible for setting the proper DNS records, and updating local POP and SMTP settings on your computers. My Local Hosting, Inc. will give you full DNS control on our server for your domain, as well as the correct POP and SMTP settings for Everyone.net (if applicable). See Section 5 below.
c. You understand and agree that any and all time My Local Hosting, Inc. spends helping you or your technical support advisor with any issues related to the transfer will be billed at 80 dollars an hour, with a minimum of 30 minutes charged. We will bill for all email and phone time.
d. You understand and agree that from time to time My Local Hosting, Inc. may change where its servers are located. We will advise you by email and a notice on our website at least 30 days prior to this happening. If you have created a custom DNS record that points directly to a specific IP on our server, you agree to be fully responsible for any updating of DNS records that need to be made.

3. Please be advised that any of the following can adversely affect a successful transfer. Be advised that all of the issues listed below are completely out of the control of My Local Hosting, Inc. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless My Local Hosting, Inc and its affiliates, against any and all claims, liability, losses, costs and expenses (including lawyers' fees on a solicitor and client basis) for any damage or loss of data related to any of the following:
a. Inability to access your current domain control panel.
b. Inability to administer or gain control of your domain name.
c. Spam filters and/or firewalls blocking incoming email.
d. Computer and/or network systems blocking the receipt of email.
e. DNS propagation time delays and/or problems.
f. ISP caching of old DNS records. This results in "I can't see my website."
g. Email downtime while any of the above issues are being resolved.
h. Lost revenue while any of the above issues are being resolved.
i. Lost email due to inability to backup your existing email.

4. If you wish to point your nameservers to us, please use: ns.mlhi.net and ns2.mlhi.net. Our TTL (Time To Live) is 15 minutes. If you need POP and SMTP settings for our Everyone.net email, and for step by step instructions on setting up Outlook, click here.
